Petr (Peter) Skalnik, Professor at University of Wroclaw. Throughout his long career he has taught social anthropology in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, South Africa and Poland. He has done fieldwork in Tuva, the Caucasus, Slovakia, Ghana, Lesotho, South Africa, Namibia, Portugal, the Czech Republic and Poland. He gave papers and served as convenor at all IUAES congresses since 1964 with exception of Tokyo-Kyoto 1968 and Kunming 2009, as well as several inter-congresses and conferences of the IUAES. In 2003, he was elected IUAES vice-president , and in 2007 was appointed chairperson of the Commission on Theoretical Anthropology. He published nearly 20 edited books besides numerous book chapters, journal articles and encyclopaedia entries.
