Director of the Global Studies Programme and a research fellow at the Institute for Sociology at Albert-Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany. His fields of research are theories of globalization, the development of national identities and different aspects of the sociology of Pierre Bourdieu. Recently he published a book on the emergence and development of national identities in Germany and India as well as a volume on the habitus concept of Pierre Bourdieu.
