Dr., is a professional economist with extensive corporate and public sector experience focusing on macroeconomic analysis. Concurrent with his professional responsibilities, Dr. Gevorkyan also carried out scholarly research and taught at Columbia University and New York University. Currently Dr. Gevorkyan is Assistant Professor of Economics in the Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John's University. Dr. Gevorkyan's broad research interests are in international financial economics, global commodities markets, economic development, macroeconomic policy, sovereign debt, labor migration, and post-socialist transformation. His recent research on emerging markets modalities connects theoretical aspects of risk and uncertainty with problems of international reserves use, capital flows, and sustainable economic development in the post-2008 crisis environment. Separately, taking early interest in the problems of temporary labor migration and economic development, Dr. Gevorkyan developed a concept of Diaspora Migration Mechanism and Migration Development Bank. Dr. Gevorkyan's work is published in economic and social science journals, including Review of Keynesian Economics, Challenge, Voprosy Economiki, International Migration, IEB International Journal of Finance, and others. He is a frequent contributor to edited studies and reference volumes. Dr. Gevorkyan is the author of Innovative Fiscal Policy and Economic Development in Transition Economies (Routledge, 2013 in paperback; 2011 in hardcover).
