Professor of Public Policy and Political Economy in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas. He has a wide range of research interests but much of his work focuses on applications of complex adaptive systems theory to understanding of the dynamics of economic, political and social phenomena at the individual, institutional and systemic levels of analysis. He is the author, co-author or editor of five books and numerous scholarly articles. His most recent work explores the question of the growth of the state and implications for the survival of traditional principles of constitutionalism and limited government.
